July activities in Salt Lake City I’m back with another great list and this time it’s about July activities in Salt Lake City. Usually around this time things are getting a little more toasty so I’ve got some great suggestions if you want to escape the heat. 4th of July Breakfast and Parade-Brighton Ski […]
Utah studio headshots As I’ve expanded into more studio work, I’ve been thinking about offering Utah studio headshots. As much as I love working with kids, it’s a nice switch from the silly faces and baby shark. And when it comes to those with professional careers, they’re an absolute must. For this session we opted […]
I have been photographing this adorable mama and her 2 kids for years now, and I feel so grateful to see how her kids have grown. Now, not to say that it’s always been smooth sailing. We usually get one kiddo that cries and won’t leave her side. So naturally, that’s what we were expecting when we booked her Santa photos. We were expecting to have some really unhappy babes for these photos.
One of the things I’ve been wanting to improve on, is taking black and white headshots. I don’t know what it is about them but I love everything about them. Again, one of the things that has changed the last few years. When I started, I was all about color and avoided doing anything black and white. And now I get giddy when I headshots in the studio so I can play with black and white images.
Utah Studio Sibling Session I have been photographing these cute kids since they were born and seeing their relationship is my favorite thing. When I talked to their mom about their session, we knew we wanted to keep clean and simple. I’ve slowly started putting together a little wardrobe for girls and had the perfect […]
Alyssa reached out to me about do their family photos because her brothers, who live outside of Utah, were going to be in town in October. She explained that they have never really done family photos and she wanted to take advantage of her family being together and surprise her dad with a family session. We started talking location options and settled on Great Saltair for family pictures.
Over the years, I’ve really struggled finding my photography style. For years, I wanted to learn lighting and offer studio portraits. We live in a beautiful state but when the weather changes, it gets cold real fast.I I finally decided to invest in some education the last couple of years and have fallen in love with studio sessions. And finally found a look I love.
I’ve lived in Utah, basically my entire life now and I’m still amazed by how beautiful it is. I’ve been doing fall mini sessions for a few years by now. While it can be stressful to manage the crowds, the colors always make it worth it.
The last couple of years, my life has gone through some changes and my priorities have shifted. I value time more now than I ever have before. Maybe it’s my kids getting older? But I’ve realized that everything else comes and goes, but something we’ll never get back is time. That’s when I got interested in more studio work.
What makes family sessions in Utah unique, is that we are blessed with gorgeous locations and amazing studios. Because the weather can be a bit unpredictable, I’ve been working hard on nailing down my studio work. The last couple of years, being consistent has become incredibly important to me.
