Family session at Big Cottonwood Canyon

I’ve lived in Utah, basically my entire life now and I’m still amazed by how beautiful it is. I’ve been doing fall mini sessions for a few years by now. While it can be stressful to manage the crowds, the colors always make it worth it.

Why Big Cottonwood ?

Honestly, any canyon in Utah will be beautiful year round. The reason why I like this specific one, is because there is always plenty of parking and you can get so many gorgeous looks by just walking around a bit.

When is the best time for fall colors?

This is a little hard just because it changes every year. That being said, I have noticed that the last week of September, first week of October is usually around the time that colors start changing. This will vary through out the state but that’s what I’ve found with Salt Lake.

Perfect time to update family photos

When it comes to family photos, I’d say fall is the most popular season. Personally, I’m a sucker for spring but fall is a favorite so almost everyone. My favorite part of fall is outfits! While it is a bit cold, I love the fact that you can change your outfit by just adding a sweater or putting boots. It’s definitely easier to pick outfits for fall than most other seasons.
