Real families • beautiful loctations • Timeless Memories
Over the years, I’ve really struggled finding my photography style. For years, I wanted to learn lighting and offer studio portraits. We live in a beautiful state but when the weather changes, it gets cold real fast.I I finally decided to invest in some education the last couple of years and have fallen in love with studio sessions. And finally found a look I love.
I’ve lived in Utah, basically my entire life now and I’m still amazed by how beautiful it is. I’ve been doing fall mini sessions for a few years by now. While it can be stressful to manage the crowds, the colors always make it worth it.
The last couple of years, my life has gone through some changes and my priorities have shifted. I value time more now than I ever have before. Maybe it’s my kids getting older? But I’ve realized that everything else comes and goes, but something we’ll never get back is time. That’s when I got interested in more studio work.
What makes family sessions in Utah unique, is that we are blessed with gorgeous locations and amazing studios. Because the weather can be a bit unpredictable, I’ve been working hard on nailing down my studio work. The last couple of years, being consistent has become incredibly important to me.
When this mama came in, she told me she didn’t have any photos of her kids together and smiling. So naturally, I made that my goal through the session. To give his mama great photos of her kids together. When it comes to little kids, it can be hard to get their focus but that doesn’t mean getting photos you want is impossible.
When I first started photography, I wanted to be a newborn photographer. I mean, who doesn’t want to hang out with cute little babies?
That was, until I realized that newborn photography is not easy!
When it comes to newborn photography, not only does it require a lot of equipment and props, but it also requires proper training. It takes a lot of skill to not only pose them but to keep them calm and asleep.
For years I have admired the work of Tracy who owns White Space Studios. So when I got the opportunity to attend one of her workshops, I jumped at the chance.
When I get my studio in September, I knew I was going to hold a day for Santa photos. I’ve been wanting to do a Santa session for years and was so dang excited to finally do it this year! I worked on getting the studio ready, painted the walls and re did the floors because I wanted the all white look.
When Kylie reached out to do her family session at Little Sahara Sand Dunes, I was sooo excited. Little Sahara is located in Nephi, Utah and gorgeous place to do a session. Whether you want to go for an engagement session or a family session, you won’t regret it.
While it is a drive, it makes for a stunning backdrop. That being said because it is a drive, I have a couple recommendations for your next session there to make sure it goes smooth and easy on your kiddos.
One of the many perks about having a studio, is the privacy. We all know a lot can happen when you leave the house and get to the studio. We’ve all been there when you’re in the car and someone spits up or has a blow out. Can’t exactly clean that up with a wipe. As parents we have a lot to think about so I though I’d share a few times how to prepare your kids for a family session.
