In case you didn’t know, doing family sessions in the studio are my new favorite thing! I did this family session in Utah studio while I had my own space and couldn’t be happier with how it turned out.
I had a studio in Draper that I had set up exactly how I wanted it. Over the years, I’ve done it all and have discovered that I like the more simple look. While I don’t have my Draper location anymore, we’re in a state that has beautiful studios all over.
When you have a simple studio space, it leaves my clients with a lot of flexibility. Not only with planning the session date and time but outfits! You don’t have to worry about blending in with the backdrop or outfits clashing. Which is great since outfits are probably the most stressful part about planning a photo session.
Now, don’t get wrong. I love working outside and doing photos at gorgeous locations. We are very blessed to be living in Utah where we gets stunning locations, views and seasons.
But when we have stunning locations, you get it a bit distracted. Trying to capture not only the gorgeous family or person you’re photographing but also the location. When you make the drive and plan according to the best time of day, you of course want to make sure capture everything. So you can see my dilemma. When I’m working in a studio that’s simple, no props, no distractions- it allows me to really focus on who I’m photographing.
