Senior session at the Provo Orchard

Planning a Senior session at the Provo Orchard

When Stephanie reached out to me (Ava’s mom), she mentioned that the had dropped the ball just a bit when planning her daughters senior session. So we had a small window when it came to booking and planning her senior session at the Provo Orchard. When spring starts peaking around here in Utah, there are a few locations that I personally can’t wait to do a session at and the Provo Orchard is one of them. I don’t get to it as often as I’d like but it’s absolutely stunning. I wanted to go over a few details when it comes to planning a session there.

Gorgeous senior at an Orchard in Provo

Where is the Provo Orchard located?

The Provo Orchard is located by the Utah State hospital at 1300 E Center St, Provo, UT 84606. You just plug it in to your GPS and you’ll see it on your way there, can’t miss it. There’s two sides options for the Orchard but you’ll want to use the bigger one, it’ll be on your right when you’re on way there.

When do the orchards bloom?

This can be tricky given how inconsistent our weather is in Utah but you’ll want to start keep an eye on it starting in April to capture it during its bloom. This year I did a session towards the end of April and the green was already starting to come through. That being said, it’s still gorgeous after they’ve bloomed. These bloom a gorgeous white color.

Is there a fee?

Yes, it’s $20 and you’ll pay at the hospital. They only accept cash so make sure you grab some before you go.

When is the best time to photograph?

I’ve only photographed there during the typical golden hour time frame and absolutely loved it. You can typically always find a row to photograph in so you can get even shade in. If you can catch it in full bloom, you can pretty much pick a row and you’re good to go. Towards the end of the bloom, you’ll need to move around to capture a good row of white.

Keep in mind, these are trees and nature so you may something flying around. I had a little bee that kept following me around and it had me just a liiiiitle stressed out (insert laughing crying emoji here).

I hope I  answered your questions but if I didn’t, feel free to reach out! I’d love to meet you and work with you, to contact me for a session, you can click here.
