Tips to booking your Utah fall photos

The busiest season is coming up so I wanted to write a short blog that will hopefully help you be prepared. Especially in Utah because we have the most gorgeous mountains and colors when the leaves change. Whether it’s finding your photographer, the location or even outfits- planning a family photo session can get real stressful. So hopefully this helps!

Book your photographer first

Because fall gets so busy, our fall schedule gets booked incredibly fast. Most photographers will offer a mini session date. They’ll either post them on their social media or send them to their mailing list like I do. If they haven’t posted any details about date for mini sessions, reach out to them to make sure you’re added to their VIP list to get first dibs.

This is incredibly important if you want to mail them out for Christmas cards! You want to enjoy your holidays, not stress about printing your Christmas cards 🙂

Start a Pinterest board for outfits

Pinterest is AMAZING for outfit ideas. You can pin them all to one board for your fall photos and start planning what you have and what you need. The best thing about fall is that it’s super easy to dress up whatever you already have. Add in some boots, a hate and a sweater- you’re set.

Arrive early when possible

Especially if you’re doing a mini session, you want to be ready to go as soon as the family before you is done. If they get done early, even better! You can start your session early and you’ll have more time to warm up. If you want to bring some bribing treats for your littles, keep it to small candies like smarties or gummy bears. Stay aways from chocolates.
